Barry M Green Lipstick - TMLP 304 £4.49 |
When I first saw this a while ago I genuinely thought it was a green lipstick, I remember shunning it and thinking why would anyone want that? But when I swatched it in Boots a few weeks ago I couldn't believe how pink it went. It also seemed to stain my hand for hours, I must have washed my hands about 3 times before it disappeared.
When I apply it to my lips it starts of as a sheer, medium toned pink and gradually gets darker for the first few minutes after application. This is very similar to Diors Colour Reviver Lip Glow as that also changes colour after a few minutes. The final colour on my lips is a darkish pink shade, and is darker still on dry and cracked areas. Barry M say that the Alkali levels in your lips determines how pink it goes.

The texture of this lipstick is thin and it initially feels like silicone on the lips. After a while the texture disappears and the lipstick becomes more like a lip stain. Barry M say that it contains aloe vera and will last for up to 8 hours. I found this lipstick really drying after a couple of hours so I doubt theres much aloe vera in it. However, this lipstick did last a hell of a lot longer than 8 hours, but sadly that was only in patches.

I found that this lipstick clung to dry patches of my lips and when it faded, it did so extremely unevenly. I was left with dark pink patches in the inner middle where my lips are chapped, this unfortunately stayed stained for a whole day after the majority of the lipstick itself had worn off. I tried exfoliating my lips but nothing seemed to help, in the end I had to cover it up with a dark lipstick. I will now only wear this over a lip balm and when my lips are in really good condition.

Its a great idea, and I love the colour when my lips are in good condition and when it's first applied. However, as my lips are normally chapped this lipstick is usually unwearable for me, plus it fades really unevenly.
